It depends on the type of consultation, preparation, and treatment you require. Procedures requiring intravenous (IV) or general anesthesia are scheduled only on certain days, with a waiting list of patients for these appointments. For procedures such as fillings and extractions, we may be able to complete some, if not all, of your treatment the same day as your consultation. We will try to accommodate your needs if time permits.

It depends on the needs of the patient. Sometimes the porcelain is chosen based on esthetic purposes. While the zirconium may potentially last longer and cause less sensitivity, gold will be durable and possibly a little bit cheaper than zirconium.

Composite or porcelain will match the look of your natural teeth a little better; therefore, patients may prefer it. Many patients choose amalgam because it may last longer and cost less.

General anesthetic (GA) is a combination of intravenous drugs and inhaled gases. Your child will have a tube placed in their throat to help manage their airway. The general anesthesia is administered by a separate certified medical anesthesiologist, with registered nurses to assist with monitoring your child until they are recovered. There are risks involved as with any surgery, which our doctors and anesthesiologists carefully consider by review of the pre-operative medical forms.

We prefer stainless steel crowns on children’s back teeth to ensure the crown lasts until their baby teeth fall out at around 10 years of age. This keeps your child from having to come back for more fillings on those teeth and saves you money in the long run. We will discuss all treatment options with you at the time of your dental appointment.
